Defense dominated as Erie pitched a 38-0 shutout of East Cleveland Shaw for an Ohio high school football victory on Sept. 2. The Royals fought to a 30-0 intermission margin at the Cardinals' expense. Neither defense permitted points in the first and third quarters. The Royals held on with an 8-0 scoring edge in the final quarter.
